Insurance Covering Data Recovery
Insurance can often cover the cost of data recovery. For an individual, either homeowners or renters insurance could provide coverage - actually most policies provide some coverage. Coverage may exist by an actual endorsement on your policy or may be able to be extended under "loss of intellectual property", "valuable papers and records" or "electronic media". Please be sure they check with your insurance agent or broker for clarification.
Almost all commercial insurance policies for businesses include some coverage for data recovery. Encourage them to review their policy and check with their insurance agent or broker.
Another possibility for businesses is data recovery may be considered a business expense and a tax write off. Your customer should check with their accountant.
Free Evaluations
DriveSavers will check your drive to determine if data is recoverable. This service is free for our customers. Once a recovery case is set up it will take 1-3 days for DriveSavers to test the drive and determine the recoverable data along with an estimate on the final cost. If the cost is too high the drive will be sent back to you at no expense.
We have now expanded this service to free evaluations for RAIDs. On all PC RAID systems with up to 4 drives and all MAC RAID systems with up to 5 drives.
We do not currently offer evaluations on flash drives, camera cards, DVDs, CDs, jpeg-only service or iPhones.
JPEG only Service
They are now offering a flat fee service for jpeg only recoveries.
• JPEG/JPG format only, photo recovery on a single HD for $950 less 10% discount with our referral making it $855. This is a great cost savings for those who are only interested in recovery digital photos.
Data Express
DriveSavers offers Data Express for recovered data. They can load a portion of the data onto their own secure FTP server. Thus the time critical data is available for download immediately once recovered. This eliminates you having to wait until the damaged drive and data is returned shipped to you.
